The Oxford Hills Honeybee Club participated in the 2015 Waterford Worlds Fair. Eight club members helped share their knowledge, spread the news of honeybee clubs and sell some delicious honey. Thanks to Carol Cottrill, Ken Record, Paul Szott, Wally Frank, Kevin Farr, Paula and Cristopher Easton and John Sinkler for making this possible. We hope to make this an annual event for our club.

We angered the bees who occupy the club hive with a bit of menthol smoke on a warm day. A small amount of honey was removed for extracting.

Chris Rodgers draws a large turn out for the clubs March Meeting Chris took us through the months in the life of a hive. A topic that usually pops up is treatment for pests. Chris gave detailed instructions on ways to combat the parasites and other potential destroyers of colonies.

A swarm of honey bees gathered high, clinging to a narrow birch branch. The weather was suitable for outside demonstrations. Paul Szott was going to open the club hive and get it prepared for the honey flow. Ken Record was to demonstrate techniques of catching a swarm, but the swarm that rested 24 feet over head was not placed there by Ken.
